Steve Martin: The Crow

Steve Martin does it all. He used to simply be a comedian, actor, and author. Apparently he’s a musician too. His autobiography, Born Standing Up, describes how he performed magic tricks and played silly songs as part of his stand-up routine. The Crow has only one silly song to complement 15 serious bluegrass numbers, generally without vocals. Mr. Martin’s album isn’t just celebrity schtick either: he can play. He pairs with several high-caliber musicians (notably Irish folk singer Mary Black on “Calico Train”) to turn out an album that would get attention even if Steve Martin didn’t do it all.
